Looking back at the beginning.

During my early years, ages six through eighteen, the excess pounds were not a hindrance to my normal activities of daily living. Being heavy didn’t stop me from participating in those endeavors and events that are common to most youths; hence, I felt accepted by those around me and I wasn’t exceedingly conscious about being overweight. In fact, during high school I played football, threw the shot put and discus, and was on the wrestling team. Of course, looking back now through the eyes of an adult, who now has gained some discernment, my participation in sports was limited to only making the team, because most of the time…I warmed the bench. Obviously, I wasn’t a first string player or a high school phenom; not by any stretch of the imagination!
